Kettlebell Protocols
Pavel's bedrock program. 10 sets of 10 one-arm swings on the E30 (5 min), 1 min rest, then 10 Turkish get-ups EMOM alternating L/R (10 min). This timer runs the full protocol automatically with audio cues at every transition — tap Open Timer and it handles the clock. The complete program, progressions, and weight standards are in Simple & Sinister by Pavel Tsatsouline.
What weight should I use?
Pavel's Simple standard for men is a 32 kg kettlebell for swings and 24 kg for get-ups. The Sinister standard is 48 kg and 32 kg respectively. Most people start with 16–24 kg and progress from there. The book gives complete weight and time standards by gender.
Does the timer work offline?
Yes. Iron Timer is a Progressive Web App (PWA). After you open it once, it works without an internet connection. Add it to your home screen and it launches like a native app with no browser UI.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, on any modern smartphone or tablet browser. Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android both work. The wake lock keeps your screen on during the workout so the timer doesn't go dark mid-set.
Can I pause the timer?
Yes. Tap the screen during any active set to pause; tap again to resume. The countdown holds exactly where you left it.
Does this replace the Simple & Sinister book?
No — it handles the clock only. The full program, progressions, warm-up, technique cues, and weight standards are all in Simple & Sinister by Pavel Tsatsouline. The timer is the infrastructure; the book is the program.
